Crowdsound.com provides an easy to use tool for providing customer or employee feedback on a company's website or intranet. The site allows users to create suggestions, which can be voted on by customers or employees by simply clicking on “Thumbs up” or “Thumbs down”. Users can also leave comments about suggestions. The site generates the code for a widget which can be placed on the user's website that allows visitors to vote on the suggestion. Users of the site have a convenient top menu bar for navigation, with tabs for Dashboard, Suggestions, Buckets, Categories, Tags, Flags and People.
A Bucket is a logical group of suggestions. Suggestions are placed in the default Bucket when they are created, and can be moved to another Bucket by the administrator. Categories are available only with a paid plan, and allow users to group suggestions by any number of categories created by the user. Tags can be assigned to Buckets when they are created, and can be searched. Flags allow the administrator to flag comments as spam or duplicate content. The People section allows the administrator to add people who can administer the Crowdsound.com account. There is also a tab on the navigation bar for website integration, where users can generate the code required to embed the Crowdsound widget on their website.Show more screenshots »
Washington, D.C.-based Intridea launched Crowdsound.com in May 2008. Barg Upender is CEO of Intridea, while Chris Selmer is VP and Michael Bleigh is Creative Director. Crowdsound.com was shut down in May 2011 because the company focused on other projects.
Competition to Crowdsound.com comes from sites such as Suggestion Box and UserVoice. Both of these sites offer a similar service to Crowdsound, with a widget for suggestions which can be added to the user's website. Crowdsound.com is more reasonably priced than either of the other two services.
The website widget functioned flawlessly, and the user account section of the site is intuitive and easy to navigate. There is no advertising displayed on the Crowdsound.com site.
Registration to Crowdsound.com is free and is required to use the site. The registration process asks for account name, website address for the account (a subdomain of Crowdsound.com), the user's website address, username, email address, first and last name and password. Validation of the email address is not required. A free account allows for unlimited accounts and website integration.
Two types of paid membership are offered – Plus and Enterprise. The Plus plan provides SSL security, widget customization, categories for suggestions, and other premium features. The Plus plan costs $10 per month. The Enterprise plan offers enterprise integration, custom branding and other features. The Enterprise plan is available on a case-by-case basis by contacting the sales department on the Crowdsound.com site.
Crowdsound.com is recommended to anyone who wishes to allow suggestions to be submitted by visitors to their website. It is an ideal tool for the website owner or for the manager who wishes to collect suggestions from visitors or from employees on the company's intranet. The widget offered by the site is easy for visitors to use, as it does not require the user to share anything other than their opinion. The application is also easy to use from an administrative standpoint.
